Scope and Content

Cuttings mainly relate to local history and folklore of Dundee area and to University College, Dundee. Subjects covered include communion tokens, the countryside and nature, education, the Great War, folklore, historic buildings, maritime safety, Newburgh, obituaries and biographies, poems by Ramsay, T T Rennie and others, public libraries, University College, and sprat fishing on the Tay. Also includes covering typescipt relating to scrapbook

Administrative / Biographical History

William Taylor Ramsay was born in Forfar, but moved to Dundee when he was very young. He worked for Baxter Bros, before becoming caretaker at Arthurstone Branch library. In 1914 he became caretaker at University College, Dundee. His youngest brother served in the Great War and may have been a casualty.
