A particularly interesting set. A wonderful variety of entries from the bare succinct to the pompous and demonstrative (for an example of the latter, see BMSS/1572 (17). Plenty of references to "attention and civility", and a good few pointing out the contrast between the service at the Oakeley Arms and other hotels in north Wales. Some very distinguished names e.g. A.H. Clough and M. Arnold (BMSS/1572 (209)), the Bangor group (BMSS.1573 (199)) etc. Many foreign signatures. Naturally the poetic effusions - English, Latin and Welsh - were at the mercy of later arrivals; their glosses, however, are usually childish and pointless.
Many leaves have unfortunately been cut out.
