Scope and Content

Recording his experiences of social and cultural life in London during his year of study in the city. He seems to have had an excellent time, what between sight-seeing, attending theatres and all kinds of exhibitions and accepting invitations to sundry dinners and parties.

One of the most interesting entries in the diary (18 May 1845) refers to a visit of his to the Welsh Chapel at Jewin Crescent and describing the Rev. John Phillips of Bangor as "the present John Elias of the Welsh Methodists".

The diary contains many references to members of the Congregational denomination e.g. Thomas Thomas of Homerton College, Mr Morris of Abergwili, John Williams of Holywell, Evan Williams of Gelliwig and John Williams of Tu-hwnt-i'r-Bwlch.
