p. 1-11 are taken up with suggestions re. new books made by the members (for the Menai Society itself, see BMSS/239)
p. 15-45 are a register of books taken out for reading.
A perusal of the names gives a good idea what people made use of the Library - Principal and professors at the University College, also at the Normal College, professional men like Dr. E.O .Price, (Sir) Henry Lewis and Mr Glynne Williams, the Head Master of Friars' School etc.
At one time "The Little Minister" was in great vogue, but its author was then comparitively obscure (on pp. 3, 25 he is designate as "- Berry"). On p. 62 "George Eliot" is down as a subscriber!
