Alexander Taylor was honorary surgeon to MRI from 1790 to 1804. He was a surgeon in Paisley for a number of years before coming to Manchester. Taylor was elected surgeon to the Infirmary in 1790 and resigned in 1804 for unknown reasons. Taylor had a reputation as a successful operator for lithotomy. Taylor later lived in Liverpool with his son, where he died on 7 December 1818, aged 74.
