Walker qualified LSA in 1823. He was a surgeon at the Manchester Eye Hospital and also for Manchester Union Hospital. An eye specialist, he published several articles on the subject and lectured on the subject at Marsden Street Medical School, Manchester. Walker was a moving force in the creation of the Manchester Medical Society in 1834, when he canvassed support for the society with Joseph Catlow among Manchester medical men.
