Administrative / Biographical History

Wadsworth graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1944, and took the DPM in 1948. He worked firstly as a psychiatric registrar at MRI, before joining Cheadle Royal Hospital as a medical superintendent, and remained there until 1971. He lectured in psychiatry at the University of Manchester from 1950-80. Wadsworth later founded a medical charity, the Society for the Investigation of Human Values, which deals with the mentally ill. He was chairman of the Royal Medical Psychological Association from 1966-9. Wadsworth died on 4 September 1983 aged 63.
