LSA 1829

James Thornley, or James Smale Thornly, entered Manchester Grammar School in 1813 before serving his apprenticeship with his father, John Thornley, a surgeon, and at MRI. Thornley was a general practitioner in Newton Heath and was medical officer of the Manchester Union and certifying factory surgeon. He died on 3 September 1847.
