Solomon was a well known quack in Liverpool. He made a fortune from his preparation, 'the balm of gilead', a cure-all. Solomon published a book, A guide to health, which ran to many editions between 1796 and 1814. He was often referred to as Dr Solomon, MD of Aberdeen, but this MD was probably fictitious. One source describes a Dr Solomon living in Liverpool in 1824, who previously lived in Birmingham as a hawker.
