Administrative / Biographical History

The Cymdeithas Lleyn ac Eifionydd er cosbi Lladron (The Eifionydd Society for the punishment of Thieves) was formed in 1818. The members were united against thieves and called for their punishment. Those who were involved in catching and punishing an offender would be rewarded. For example, those who aided in the punishment of someone who had stolen a horse, received a reward of £2 10 shillings. The meetings were held at Four Crosses.

From 1875 to 1882, it was transformed into Cymdeithas Amddiffynol yr Amaethwyr
