Scope and Content

There are six images in total. The largest and main drawing shows the brain retracted at operation to reveal a cyst in the pituitary region alongisde the optic nerve. Four smaller drawings show different details of the progress of the operation and have the following labels: collapsed cyst, tumour nubbin in bottom of cyst, optic nerve, sucking out fluid, nubbin removed, hollow left by cyst, and wall of carotid artery. The final image is an outline drawing of the patient's skull to show the position of the operative flap turned down in the right frontal region with the label 'exposure for pituitary operations'. Annotations on the back read "Mrs patient's surname 17.x. PPH Mr Jefferson" and "craniopharyngioma Rathke tumour". PPH refers to the Private Patients' Home that was attached to the MRI at this time.
