Scope and Content

Post mortem sketch of a ventral view of the brain and a smaller more detailed drawing below with 'subcortical glioma' labelled on both. Annotations on the back read "Patient's name, Mr Jefferson MRI glioblastoma June 1942" and "Jefferson Doyne Lecture Fig. 222".

This image features as figure 222 in the publication G. Jefferson, 'Doyne Lecture: On compression and invasion of the optic nerves and chiasma by neighbouring gliomas', Transactions of the Ophthalmological Society, 1945, 65, pp.262-304, in which it is described as follows: "Anterior chiasmal compression by right frontal malignant glioma; no recognizable field alteration".
