Scope and Content

Large Ross drawing of a lateral view of the cerebellum and pituitary region with the following labels: lateral sinus, tentorium, and tumour. There is a slightly smaller drawing inset in the bottom left corner which offers a sagittal view of the same area. Annotations on the back read "Jefferson MRI from Blackburn Infirmary, patient's surname, 12.37. pit. adenoma fig 6" and "Fig.6 Case 4. Tumour sprouting alongside trigeminal root ... 6th nerve from Dorello's canal. Largest portion ... is a backward pre-pontine extension". The second set of comments are typed.

This drawing features as figure 6 in the publication G. Jefferson, 'The invasive adenomas of the anterior pituitary', The Sherrington Lectures III, University of Liverpool, 1955, in which it is described as an "adenoma extending into posterior fossa alongside 5th and 6th nerves". The same patient is also described in G. Jefferson, 'Extrasellar extensions of pituitary adenomas. President's address', Proceedings of the Royal Society of Medicine, 1940, vol.33, pp.433-58, in which she features as case 11.

See also VFA.7.121 for another drawing relating to the same patient.
