Scope and Content

Two large ross drawings of an operation to remove an 8th nerve cyst in the cerebellar region. There is a smaller outline diagram on the right to indicate the size and location of the incision. Annotations on the back read "removal of cyst from 8th nerve, Mr Jefferson MRI, Manchester" and "Zbl. Neurochirurgie No 63 Hardman-Jefferson".

This image features as figure 1 in the publication J. Hardman & G. Jefferson, 'Cerebellopontine angle signs produced by ependymomata (cyst, tumour)', Zentralblatt für Neurochirurgie, 1938, in which it is described as follows: "a. drawing of the operation showing the position and extent of the multilocular cyst. b. shows the actual removal of the collapsed cyst wall".

Signed by the artist in the bottom right corner.
