Scope and Content

A well-informed attempt by the late W.P.O. Evans of Broom Hall to correct and amplify the Rhosgylldynanau table in J.E.Griffith Pedigrees. Mr Evans was thoroughly conversant with these family papers, and his conclusions are entitled to the greatest respect. According to this MS. the Catherine Lloyd of Rhosgyll who married Richard Madryn of Llannerch Fawr was daughter not to the Richard loyd who married the Humphreys heiress of Tanrallt by Pwllheli, (see garthewin MSS. 841-842), but to his son William who married Elizabeth Anwyl of Dolfriog in 1666 and died in 1670 (this is indirectly confirmed by the Dolfriog benefactions in Catherine's will of 1710). He confirms the theory about John Thomas of Dynanau in Garthewin 842, but was evidently not informed of Gaynor, sister to Catherine Madryn, who was married to an Englishman named Golding - it is pretty clear the Llannerch will of 1710 had not been read by him.
