57-91 are papers telling of frustration, delayed action, various phases of disappointment, but telling also of possible fruition "after many days". Sadly interesting are 65-66, in which Mr. Lloyd Hughes of Coed Alun writes of the complete loss of the ancient papers of his family; a similar tale comes from Voelas (72-73). The last 13 papers (79-91) are proofs of a special effort made to recover some of the Parys Mine records, the one positive result being the collection deposited by Major Fanning Evans of Menai Bridge (Bangor 3010-3032). Inquiries were made at Amlwch and of the surviving descendants of Thomas Williams of Llanidan - sometime manager of the Mines and a great industrial pioneer - and courteous replies were received from several of them, including Sir Archibald Sinclair, the present Air Minister (91), but not one of them was able to add anything to the contribution of Major Fanning Evans. The answer of Mrs. Hwfa Williams had not arrived when this catalogue was compiled (Sept, 1940). An effort was also made to secure Paris Mine papers from the present descendants of the Llysdulas-Kinmel family - Llysdulas shared with Plas Newydd the immense profits of the Amlwch copper - but unfortunately Col. H.B.L.Hughes of Kinmel died on the very morning he was to have received the letter (that explains Mr. Birch's correspondence, 84-85).
