Scope and Content

'FOLLOW ON'

Behind - a rock receding, deeply scored

By a track of many feet adown the years,

Before -a hidden realm all unexplored

Waiting the coming of the pioneers.

The spirit's vast domain outstretches far

To lure the questing soul athirst for God;

And faith that sees nor boundary nor bar

Shall win a tenure in that land untrod.

O, tell us, traveller, is it really worth

The lonely venture and the costly pain?

Yea, friend, beyond the richest joys of earth,

To follow Christ and grander heights attain.
