Dear Miss Faithfull. It is a rule with [us the peers] adopted for mutual protection - not to press for each others patronage. This being the well-known etiquette, the Duke might, if he pleased, take offence at _____ urging the matter: but he could not do so if Arthur Balfour did. Arthur is therefore far the preferable advocate of the two.
