Scope and Content

My dear Miss Faithfull, I could not see the announcement in yesterdays papers without sending you the line, though I feel hardly as if I had a right to do so, I tell you how very sorry I am for you all & how deeply we sympathise with you - You have indeed the same comfort as we ourselves have now, that a saint has gone to her rest - but it is not the less sad for those who are left - In fact to speak selfishly it of course makes the sorrow greater -for the loss is greater -Will you kindly tell Mr Renand how much we are feeling for him & Believe me Ever yrs most truly

G Salisbury
