Scope and Content

My dear Madam, I received your letter yesterday, but being Sunday I was unable to reply til by return of post. I have now however sent pleasure in saying that you are quite at liberty to make any use you please of the simple hymn to which you refer. The Religious ___ Society - have circulated it widely -but as they have altered one verse with my leave. I send you the original or rather the correct copy and I am, for I cannot write to you as a stranger, hearing you well thro Lady [Lesel?] Philips & the Dean Cunningham. My dear Madam Yours' faithfully _____Charlotte Elliott
