Dear Sir, I find that I have not _____ before the ___ of your last letter, or discharged my son's account, which you forwarded to me at the same time . I regret that it has been inadvertently so long deferred. I believe [Douglas?] now begins to like his lessons very well, and finds the benefits school significantly easy.

He was placed low at first, at my particular request; but he has already been promoted two _____, and in ___ [the second page of the letter is not possible to read at present as much of it has been stuck down] Yours very truly, Aberdeen.
