Dearest Angel, I enclose as you desire a signature of Joleen! I tell him he ought to have put 'Yrs affectly.' to you but he pretends to think you do not want it for yourself. [bottom of page cut off] [top part of back of the page is stuck down]

over now _______ful Charlie I ____down with it here. Little Willie is very _____ & carefully avoiding his Uncle's room remembering how ill he was with the plague. [bottom of page has been cut off]

The top and bottom of the letter have been chopped but on the left hand corner, one can still read 'HATFIE[LD]' and 'WITH[AM]' printed on it in black ink. On the right hand corner part of the address stil remains thus, 'TERLING PLACE, WITHAM, ESSEX.'
