HM Couldrey was the brother of Miss Mildred Couldrey who died in the winter of 1970. He enclosed a donation to her memorial fund for the Library. He has always supported Votes for Women since the beginning of the century but was anti-militant. He relates the tale of having once saved Winston Churchill from a horde of militants when escorting him to a Liberal Public Meeting and how Winston had led him on to the platform and publicly praised his quick use of common sense.
