Comments on suggestions for employment of Miss Watson. Thinks salary suggested far too high if hotel expenses etc. as well as railway fares are paid separately; in this event, salary should not be more than £100 a year. If travelling expenses limited to railway fares, cannot dispute amount, though he still thinks it high and far more than his wife pays for similar work. Thinks it unwise she should work in surrey, Kent and Sussex; these areas already thoroughly worked among Liberals by his wife, and unlikely to make much headway among Conservatives. Suggests Edinburgh Committee of Women Graduates of Scottish Universities (Parliamentary Franchise) should examine London University Charter; thinks there is express prohibition against votes for women graduates for university seats; i.e. when degrees were granted to women, rights did not include vote. If no similar words are in Scottish Act, Parliament evidently considered rights of Scotch women differently from Englishwomen.
