Scope and Content

Ms notes on antenatal cases, compiled by G. B. Johnson, pupil midwife at the Queen's Charlotte Hospital, London (14 July-7 September 1938), recording the name, age, address and previous pregnancies of each expectant mother, the expected date of delivery, the presentation and position of the foetus at different stages of the pregnancy and the results of any urine tests that were undertaken, together with further ms notes on the births that she attended on the labour ward and out working in the district (7 July-22 August 1938), including the personal details and pregnancy history of each patient, the date of admission to hospital, the date and hour that labour began, the date and hour of delivery of the child and placenta, the sex of the child, the length and weight of the child, the circumference of the head of the child, the names of all those who examined the patient, as well as further remarks on the progress of labour. This volume also contains ms rules for midwives working out on the district.
