Harriett Simpson Cater trained at University College London (1878-1880), the General Lying-in Hospital, Lambeth (1880), and the British Lying-in Hospital, Endell Street (1883). She worked with Sir John Williams, Sir Francis Champneys and Sir Thomas Barlow as a monthly nurse, attending some of the most eminent families in Britain. Her last case was in 1919.
