Scope and Content

Papers relating to the midwifery training of Dorothea Siebel (later Jones), including her record of practical instruction and experience for the certificate of general nursing, with syllabus and examination booklets and exam papers (1956 - 1959), notebooks with details of cases seen and delivered (1960 - 1961) during her training at the East End Maternity Hospital, case books of deliveries attended while training at Lewisham Hospital (1961), and midwifery lecture notes and completed essays (1960-1961).

Administrative / Biographical History

Dorothea Siebel trained as a general nurse at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford for three years (1956-1959), followed by one year as a staff nurse there. She undertook her part 1 training course in midwifery at the East End Maternity Hospital, Commercial Road, London and the part 2 at Lewisham Hospital, with district work in Hoxton and Islington.
