Case notes of Cecilia Bird

Ms case notes of Cecilia Bird, pupil midwife at the Salvation Army Mothers' Hospital (15 January 1946-17 January 1947), recording the her training in prenatal, intranatal and postnatal care by listing the care given to each patient that she attended, the progress of pregnancy, details of the birth and health of the child, including a "Mother's Chart" and "Infant's Chart" for each confinement, as well as graphs plotting the physical progress of mother and infant for around ten days after birth and detailed description of the health of each, e.g. pulse, weight, condition of lochia for the mother. Previous pregnancies and confinements of the mother are also noted in detail; most of these were during the Second World War and one states that a previous child was born two months prematurely due to shock caused by air-raids. Cecilia Bird (fl. 1930-1950) was a pupil midwife at the Salvation Army Mothers' Hospital between 1946 and 1947. During this time she attended new and expectant mothers in North and East London.
