Scope and Content

Letter to RD's mother from Ella, signed 'Robella', an affectionate nickname frequently used by Ella from this point onwards to denote letters sent jointly from RD and herself. Relates to: RD's success with his first big production - [Martinez-]Sierra's The kingdom of God [at Cambridge Festival Theatre]; preparation for his forthcoming role in Rosmersholm; his acceptance of an offer from [John] Masefield for a part in a play to be staged during the Verse Speaking Festival at the end of July; Ella's preparation for her role in The unknown warrior [their final play in Cambridge]; William Grimmond's visit to see The kingdom of God and his belief that RD is an inspiring producer; plans to visit London to see [Alexander] Moissi in Hamlet; and the notices received by John Gielgud in the Old Vic Company.

Dated at: Cambridge. Address in RD's hand; letter in Ella's hand.
