Scope and Content

Letter from RD to his mother, relating to: his gratitude for her food parcels; his ability to have occasional meals out and so avoid rationing problems; Joanna's talent for singing; his current rehearsals for a revival of [James Bridie's] A sleeping clergyman, due to open at the Criterion Theatre on 19 June; his financial struggles in the absence of film earnings; and the possibility of making a Hollywood film. He also urges his mother not to believe rumours in the press about RD's asthma or about him coming to the USA.

Dated at: 23 Three Kings Yard, London, W1. Holograph.
