Scope and Content

Letter from RD to his father and brother John, relating to: his regret that he cannot pay for Ernst and John to visit England because of current contractual uncertainties; and his decision to resign from his part [Roger Woodruff] in When ladies meet before the play reaches London because he feels it would damage his reputation; he considers the character to be the most unsympathetic swine I have ever tackled.

Dated at: Alderley Edge [Cheshire]. Holograph. A date of receipt (20 April) has been added in another hand.
