Scope and Content

Incomplete letter from RD to his parents, relating to his work at Liverpool Playhouse, which has included the role of Cashel Byron [in Shaw's Cashel Byron's profession] and a large part in a new Harold Brighouse comedy, It's a gamble. He describes his character as a Salford bank clerk in the latter play, and the problems he has had in trying to alter his accent after being informed by Brighouse that the character should not speak in Lancashire dialect. RD also mentions his hope that Armstrong will be able to find Ella a part in his company.
