Scope and Content

The letters refer mainly to the sale and display of Paul Nash works at Tooth's, The Redfern Gallery and the Leicester Galleries. Other topics include requests for more paintings, photographing paintings, travelling and other exhibitions including at the National Gallery (TGA 7050/1356 and 1358), and The Ashmolean, Oxford (TGA 7050/1358), the bombing of Tooth's Bond Street premises and the loss of 'Parallel P' 'Chieter(?) Landscape', 'Study, Bath', and 'Wreckage Abstraction I' (TGA 7050/1361 and 1363). Also includes letter to and from A.B. Gomme, Ministry of Labour, re deferring Richard Smart's call up (TGA 7050/1365-66); three letters from E.J. Ledger, Secretary, Arthur Tooth & Sons Ltd (after Smart's call up?) regarding moving premises and transferring Nash's works to the Redfern Gallery (TGA 7050/1384-86); and lists of Nash works received by Tooth's (TGA 7050/1369, 1372 and 1379). TGA 7050/1386 and 1389-90 include pencil annotations by Paul and (Margaret?) Nash.
