The letters concern John Nash's life and work, and family and business affairs. The early letters mainly refer to and describe trips to Brighton, France and Wales, the landscape and travel. From 1940 (TGA 7050/926) the letters largely concern John Nash's war work, particularly for the Admiralty and his postings to Scotland (TGA 7050/930) and Portsmouth (TGA 7050/936). They contain much detail of his life and gardening particularly in Pitrearie (Dunfermline), Portsmouth and Bottengoms Farm (Colchester). Other topics include shared investments (TGA 7050/926), exhibitions (TGA 7050/927 and 929), evacuees (TGA 7050/928), the move to Colchester (TGA 7050/941 and 944), John Nash's desire to start painting again (TGA 7050/944) and the funeral of their step mother (TGA 7050/948). The majority of the letters contain illustrations and the collection includes a Christmas card from, and by, John Nash (TGA 7050/925). TGA 7050/945 includes pencil notes by Paul Nash on the reverse.
Twenty-four letters and two postcards from J(ohn) N(ash) to (Paul Nash), and one letter from Christine (Mrs John Nash).
