Thomas Roberts, Chester, to Dr. Thomas, White Friars, Chester, sending Dr. Thomas a copy of a letter addressed to Mr. Philpot from the Medical Registrar. Mr. Roberts states that in reserving the case for the opinion of the General Council he presumes they intend to exercise the powers conferred on the General Council by the Act of 1858, he also states that the question is whether Dr. Thomas will wait for the meeting of the General Council or proceed to try his right to br registered as a matter of title and not of favour.

COPY LETTER (27 April 1860): Francis Hawkins, Registrar, Medical Registration Office , 37 Soho Square, London, W. to Mr John Philpot, informing him that the Branch Medical Council for England have considered the case of his client Dr. Thomas and find they have no authority or power to order the registration of his degree and therefore they have been compelled to reserve his case for consideration of the General Medical Council which will be meeting shortly.
