Administrative / Biographical History

Dr. Henry Thomas (1832-1894) was a native of Chester, the son of Thomas Thomas (1799-1887) a printer in that city. Thomas Thomas was however a native of Bangor and a descendant of the Thomas family of Coed Helen, Caernarfon.

Dr. Henry Thomas became articled to Dr. Norton of Chester in 1852. He left to study medicine in America where he graduated as M.D. of the Western College of Homeopathic Medical College of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia. He returned to practice in Chester before succeeding Dr. Norton as resident proprietor and medical superintendent of the Llandudno Hydropathic Establishment. He remained there until his death, 6 Feb. 1894.

Miss Eva Thomas was the youngest daughter of Dr. Henry Thomas. She was a teacher, principally of French and German which she had studied on the continent and held diplomas for both, but she also gave lessons in music and English.
