Scope and Content

To his mother, says he is back at Snowdon, Simla (official summer residence of the Indian Army C in C). Says their party comprises Auchinleck, Sir Richard Peirse, Charles McNeill, a unnamed RAF officer and Ridgway. He describes the luxurious train which brought them to Simla. He will be meeting the governor of Punjab, [Bertram James Glancy 1882-1953] and tomorrow, the governor of Burma , [Reginald] Dorman-Smith (1899-1977). [adds in a note that it is alleged that Kitchener had GHQ files pulped to make filler for the walls at Snowdon].
