To his mother, further details about his planned home visit [Mrs Ridgway lived in Finchampstead Heights, Berkshire] and will be visiting Winchester.

Note says Montgomery left V Corps about this time to command XII Corps and the new commander was General Edmund Schreiber [1890-1972] who commented that Montgomery had been right to provide good training for his staff but it had been at the expense of other troops who did not know how to use weapons.
