Letter

To his mother, say he is surprised to hear that Auchinleck being sent to the Middle East [Wavell was replaced by Auchinleck as Commander-in-Chief, Middle East, with Wavell becoming Commander-in-chief, India in his place; Auchinleck was then responsible for the North African campaign until the summer of 1942] and doesn't know how will affect him. He describes a stopping off in South Africa. Apologises if his letter seems "cryptic".
