Went with Freddie de Guingand to Mohammed Ali Club which is meant to have best food in Cairo, and played golf with Tony Phillpotts; also had lunch with General Pownall, who he encountered previously at Winchester as Pownall's nephew taught there [adds a short note about Pownall's war service; Henry Pownall,1887-1961, soldier, held senior positions in SE Asia command.]
