Wavell hosted a dinner for old Wykehamists (Cripps, a Wykehamist, did not attend the dinner but listened to the speeches and joined in the singing of the Domum). Heard from Tony Phillpotts [Auchinleck's ADC] that Auchinleck seems "very cheerful".
