To his mother, says that Auchinleck's new post in India is similar to Alan Brooke's in Britain [Brooke was at the time Commander in Chief, Home Forces, later Chief of the Imperial General Staff]. A later note by Ridgway says Ironside and Gort were supposed to be favourites for the India job. Note in pencil by Mrs Ridgway about injuries to Teddy King-Salter. [Edward King-Salter 1899-1981 had been a senior liaison officer during the Norwegian campaign].
