This John Hughes was one of the most substantial and prosperous Anglesey farmers of his time; he was also grandson to a William Hughes who had been both farm- bailiff at Porthllongdy to the Rev. Edward Hughes, father of Lord Dinorben, and afterwards one of the overlookers at the Parys mine. Grace, wife of John Hughes of Pen'rorsedd, was particularly noted for her intelligence, piety and good works.
