This document represents a late stage in the transactions arising from the difficulties created by the last will of William Lewis of Llysdulas (dated 11 July 1759), and the provisions made by him for the paying of his just debts by his wife Elizabeth Lewis and his sister Margaret (the latter died early in this year 1788). In the intermediate stages of this development the Meyricks of Bodorgan figure very prominently; very naturally, for the widow Elizabeth was daughter of William Meyrick of Bodorgan, sister to Owen Meyrick the elder, aunt to Owen Meyrick the younger, and great-aunt to the Ridgeway Owen Meyrick who was the first husband of Diana Wynne of Dyffryn Aled - these three Meyricks figured in various penal bonds or their assignments. Thomas Williams was the well-known Thomas Williams of Plas Llanidan, attorney, and most prominent in developing the resources of the Parys Mine, and father to the Owen Williams of Great Marlow who married Margaret, daughter of the Rev. Edward Hughes, and sister to the first Lord Dinorben.
Declaration of trust of a mortgage on Llysdulas for securing £350 and interest by Thomas Williams to the Rev. Edward Hughes.
