These are not farm diaries, however, but memoranda (and pretty full ones) by "Uncle Griffith," who seems to have bee a maternal uncle of Miss M.C. Hughes (he died on the 25th October, 1924, and was cremated at Manchester - see BMSS/2480). From these diaries he appears a confirmed valetudinarian (giving full details of his quantities of sleep and of the various dishes he ate), moving often from Hendre[feinws] to Hounslow, and Portrush in Ireland, and from there back again to Hendre. Eating, gardening, and reading the papers took up all his time.
[From an obituary notice in the Genedl Gymreig for the 27th October, 1924, "Uncle Griffith" was Brigadier Surgeon Griffith Griffiths, who had served with the Indian Army for many years. He was 83 when he died].
