Correspondence with Joseph John Findlay (1860-1940), educationist, relating to letters and articles by Findlay for publication in the Manchester Guardian. There is a request by Scott for an article by Findlay for the Saturday paper on standards and freedoms in education, discussion of articles proposed by Findlay on the policy and philosophy of the University, and also discussion of proposed articles on Esperanto, one of which, relating to the Esperanto conference in Danzig, is accepted.

There is correspondence relating to discussion of proposed letters to the editor by Findlay on war guilt and reparations, including a copy of the letters proposed for publication, which are refused by Scott owing to the controversial nature of the subject matter.

GDN/A/F9/22 is an obituary for Findlay in the [Manchester Guardian], 1940.
