Correspondence with George Jennison

Scope and Content

Correspondence with George Jennison (1872-1938), zoologist, relating to requests for articles by Jennison on the imitative power of snakes referred to in an article in The Times, and on the gorilla, with reference to their scarcity, for publication in the Manchester Guardian.

Also included is correspondence relating to the recommendation of Jennison by Scott for the [Royal] Commission on Licensing, with discussion of a delay in the delivery of the recommendation, which led to its being too late for consideration. There is an offer of an article by Jennison on a potential scheme to overcome unemployment, with reference to a debate on unemployment in the House of Commons, which is refused.

GDN/A/J6/2 is a letter to the editor on the sounds made by snakes in Africa in The Times, 1929.
