1 Edward ap Thomas of Merton Ywghglan, co. Flint, gent. 2 (A) Pierce Williams of Merton Isglan, gent., and (b) John ap William John of Whitforn Garn, co. Flint, gent. 3 (A) David Pennant of Bighton, co. Flint, gent., and (b) William Parry Wynne of Merton Isglan, co. Flint, gent. Postnuptial Settlement (Deed to specify the uses of a fine and common recovery levied and suffered by 1) of 1 and Jane, daughter of 3(b), and 3(a) and Margaret, niece of 1) of (i) capital m. of 1 in t. Merton, and all other m's of 1 in t's Merton, Merton Ywghglan, and Merton Isglan, which had been the property of Thomas ap Thomas ap Edward, late father of 1; (ii) a close of land in t. Merton, called Quoetkay r Bryn (5 a.) and one other parcel of land in Merton (1/2 a.) which had been the lands of 3(b), purchased by him severally from Edward Piers and Roger Parry, gent.; (iii) 2 parcels of land in Merton (1 a. and 1/2 a.) the one adjoining the close called Quoetkay r Bryn on the one side, and a parcel of land called Errow Vair, the other lying in a close of land called Quoetkay r Llyn, which had been the land of Lewys ap Ho'ell, gent., dec.; (iv) a close, croft and 2 quillets of land in Merton (3 roods) lying in a place called Pen Bryn Hendrey, which close called Quoetkay r Bryn, and the said 4 other parcels and 2 quillets of land were once the lands of 3(b), in [p. Whitford], co. Flint. The uses specified are: 1 parcel of land, lying in Golche (tenant named), part of the property comprised in the fine and recover to the use of 1; properties (ii) (iii) (iv) to the use of 1 and Jane his wife, with remainders to their issue, and in default to the heirs of Jane; 1/2 of property (i) to the use of 1 for life, and then to the use of Jane in lieu of dower, no use is appointed on the other 1/2 of property (i), with remainders to the issue of 1 and Jane his wife, and in default of issue, 1 close called Bryn Cadow in Merton Ywghglan to the use of Anne, wife of 2(a) for 21 years, after which, together with all the property described, to the use of Margaret Pennant, wife of 3(a) and her lawful issue, and in default of such issue to the use of the right heirs of 1, provided that if 3(a) and Margaret his wife shall, within 2 years after 1's death, if he die without issue by Jane his wife, pay to Anne wife of 2(a) £200, then the term of 21 years before limited to Anne, wife of 2(a) shall become void and that the enclosure called Y Bryn Cadow shall remain to such other uses as before appointed. Consideration: £50 and the marriages of 1 and Jane, daughter of 3(b), and 3(a) and Margaret, niece of 1. Seal.
