Scope and Content

1 (A) Thomas Mostyn, esq., and (b) Thomas Pennant, gent. 2 William Mostyn, esq., son of 1(a). Lease for 10 years by which 2 is given free liberty to dig and get coals within and upon the void or waste ground called Mostyn, in p. Whytforde, co. Flint, and another parcel of the said waste ground called Bightan, between the tmt's of Nicholas Pennant on the one side and of Tuder ap D'd on the other. Annual rent: 2d. if demanded. 2 Covenants not to dig up any coals any further than under the ground of Bightan, that he shall keep the meers of the said parcel as well under the ground as above, that he will pay 1(b) for the first of the ten years six tons of coal, and during the other years, 8 tons a year. If 2 does not get any coal from the said parcel for the space of 1-2 year or a 4 year, then 1(b) is to allow and forgive to 2, such portion of the said 8 tons of coal as falls upon the half or quarter so seised. 1 agree not to get coal within the said two parcels, during the term of the 10 years.
