This ballet, choreographed by Frederick Ashton is based on a story by Russian writer Turgenev set to the music of Frederick Chopin. The series includes production notes, costume sketches and designs, character notes, fabric swatches, plans, drawings and sketches of scenery and props, production, set and rehearsal photographs, press cuttings, correspondence relating to the production and congratulating Julia on the production. There are detailed, mounted designs for scenery, props, millinery, jewellery, costumes and wigs as well as mounted reference images for use by the makers of sets, costumes and props. There are also audio-visual recordings of various revivals of the production, publicity material relating to the production and material relating to several, later revivals.
